Teeter reveals to Travis that she's originally from the Arkansas side of Texarkana, and he jokingly tells her not to admit she's from the "wrong" side. Since she started at the ranch she has managed to hold her own alongside the male ranch hands. She playfully flirts with Colby often, who feigns disinterest. Later, she and Colby are brutally attacked by Wade and Clint Morrow when they trampled her and Colby underfoot while they were swimming in a creek. This rallied the ranch hands to hunt down the Morrow's and take their revenge, killing them both. Since she was party to Wade's execution, Teeter, Colby and several others were required to receive the brand and tie themselves to the ranch forever.

When tensions boiled over between Lloyd and Walker over Laramie, John made the executive decision to dismiss all of the female ranch hands because their presence was provoking the men to competitive violence. Outraged that she was included with the barrel racer, Teeter later approached John and Rip to beg for her job back, pointing out her contributions to the ranch often outpaced the men, that she's not a source of trouble, and she now holds the Yellowstone brand. Having not previously known she held the brand, John rescinded her expulsion and reinstated her as a ranch hand.

Later she broke down Colby's resistance to her flirtation and they effectively became a couple as time passed. Eventually it became necessary to ship the herd off to Colorado and Texas to graze, which required the ranch hands to be split up in order to look after them. Teeter and Colby were forced to part ways for a prolonged amount of time though they officially proclaimed their love for each other before they did.
