Jim Courtright is the Marshal of Fort Worth, Texas.
Marshal Courtright is a no-nonsense lawman who uses judge, jury, and executioner-style tactics on how to deal with killers and other malicious criminals. While he allows folks in Fort Worth to hang thieves and other criminals, he makes it clear that he deals with murderers in Fort Worth. When Clide Barker and his gang shot up and killed several people in the Texas-Oregon Caravan, including Mary Abel Dutton, he was approached by James, Shea, and Thomas, who brought with them Josef, who helped him identify the killers. Courtright deputized James and the 5 of them arrived at the White Elephant Saloon. Once Josef pointed out the murderers, Courtright immediately recognized them and instead of arresting and holding them, he carried out the punishment by shooting each and every one of them to death, armed or not.
Jim Courtright was a real lawman in the 19th Century.
