Carter is a trouble teenaged boy who was taken in by the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch after his father died.

Biography

He was a troubled boy who nothing, even before his father died of a heroin overdose. He showed how much he despised him for it on his deathbed, especially that he was a vegetable being kept alive on a breathing machine. Carter did connect with Beth outside of the hospital and allowed her to come with him to see his father who was dying. He was later taken in by the Duttons, and put to work on the ranch after being arrested by Sheriff Donnie Haskell after attempting to rob a gas station. Rip did not like the idea of Beth taking in a strange boy, nor did he approve of him sleeping in the lodge and contemplated handing him over to the authorities. Rip had him sleeping in the tool closet while shoveling horse shit out of the stalls.
