Brother Romero is a Catholic priest at the North Dakota Boarding School for Native Americans. After Teonna Rainwater escaped from the school, he, Liam, and Cillian were ordered by Father Renaud to ride out and recapture her. While Liam was delivering another child to their school, he and Cillian discovered Teonna masquerading as a boy. Both him and Cillian were shot by Hank Plenty Clouds, though Cillian survived the shotgun blast, Romero was not so lucky. His corpse is later scalped along with Cillian's by Runs His Horse with a blood writing, Child Killer, written on his torso.
